A force for true change...
We are a group of over 100 women championing a healthy Lake Simcoe and its Watershed.
For the past 30 years, beautiful Lake Simcoe has been abused and neglected. Cold water fish are no longer breeding. Beaches are closing. Weeds and invasive species are rampant.
Until the Ladies of the Lake arrived on the scene, most people looked the other way or felt the situation hopeless. With wit and energy, we set out to change the dynamic-and in just four years have helped make saving Lake Simcoe a priority.
Our story is two-fold. On the one hand, it is the increasingly common story of people wanting to take the fate of a place they love into their own hands. It is also the story of a unique way of helping to rescue Lake Simcoe.
Our Commitment
To clean up, protect, and revitalize Lake Simcoe and its watershed. Our 2006 and 2009 calendars raised over $400 000 to support our projects. This summer teens from the watershed made films to raise awareness about the plight of the lake and learned to be environmental ambassadors.
Our Mandate
- To give voice to everyone who loves Lake Simcoe and its watershed.
- To bridge what governments can do and what everyone can do to
help Lake Simcoe and its watershed heal itself
