Ontario Water Centre & SPLASH the floating water festival

Ladies of the Lake are playing a lead role in bringing to life a dynamic place with a visionary agenda on the shores of Lake Simcoe -- The Ontario Water Centre for Innovation, Research and Learning. The Water Centre will be a space—both virtual and real—that brings together students, scientists, businesses, government, artists, and citizens of all types to learn about water and be inspired by water.

It will be a hub that unites the ecological, economic, social, cultural, recreational and spiritual meanings and benefits of water.

The Water Centre idea coincides with the Lake Simcoe Protection Plan and the new Ontario Water Opportunities Act. It will help solidify Ontario’s leadership in water research and innovation, open economic and cultural opportunities  and help create knowledge-based water-inspired jobs in the area.

After a year of research, the Water Centre is taking its first steps NOW with the launch of SPLASH, the Floating Water Festival on August 12 and 13, 2011 at De la Salle Park, Jackson’s Point, Splash will celebrate innovation, showcase the Water Centre, and further everyone’s relationship with water in interactive and enjoyable ways .
